October 2026. St Louis’ New Cathedral.

The city’s original cathedral dates to the early 1800’s, and it shares downtown real estate with the Gateway Arch. This newer structure was built and dedicated within the first two decades of the 20th century. All sorts of detail and form caught my eye, even though at first glance the main facade was a jumble of non-architectural stuff. The dismal skies didn’t help much either! Large main and side doorways seem to invite one deeper into a communion of sorts, as does the sturdy rose stained glass window.
